Legends Of Blues 'Deep Blue Sea Blues' TEXAS ALEXANDER & LONNIE JOHNSON (1928)
Bluesman Joe Callicott (1899-1969) recorded only two songs (this one and Travelling Mama Blues) in 1930. He was rediscovered and recordedd a fine album in 1967 (Fat Possum 0360 "Aint A Gonna Lie To You").
His rhythmic fingerpicking style is still heard in the work of North Mississippi artists such as Robert Belfour and R.L. Burnside.
Paul Rishell also does a fine version of this song on his cd "Moving To The Country
